Olympic Doughnuts

I have been craving a good jam doughnut for about a week now. This mixed with the fact that I wanted a reason to adventure out to Footscray led me to Footscray in hunt of Melbourne's best jam doughnut.
Olympic Doughnuts [outside Footscray train station] [96% on Urban Spoon] is an institution. I walked up to the old van and ordered two donuts. The friendly old man picked up 2 freshly deep friend balls of dough, needled and filled them with his hot jam machine and then coated them in sugar. It was warm sugary, jammy, doughy heaven. I would make the trip out there just for these 80 cent gems.

Wood Spoon Kitchen

Visit me
[88 Smith St, Collingwood]
Nothing beats good Japanese food and a friend from out of town and I were blown away with Wood Spoon Kitchen. They had all the usual Japanese favs including nigiri and agedashi tofu as well as plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.

ST ALi

Visit me
[12-18 Yarra Pl, South Melbourne]
We all have our favourite places and St ALi at South Melbourne is mine. Whenever anyone's visiting - this is my number one choice. Great vibe, amazing food and incredible coffee. They are a Melbourne favourite and I can't go past the omega love (smoked salmon pastrami style with crunchy kipfler potatoes, a poached egg and mustard mayo) with a soy iced latte.
