Happy New Year from Israel!

Happy Jew Year y'all!

New Year actually isn't a thing in Israel at all.  Weird, I know.  In fact, I went to school yesterday to teach and we got the day off today but the rest of the country was back at it.  This doesn't mean that Tel Aviv (Israel's New York in my opinion) didn't thankfully turn it on though.

So we spent last night celebrating in Tel Aviv at a club called SOLO (which conveniently rhymes with YOLO so obvs it was amazing).  The club's motto was "We Come One" which made the place even more amusing.

At midnight, there were fire crackers and the DJ played Angel by Robbie Williams, video clip and all (I'm still a little confused as to why they chose that song but everyone knew the words so it actually was great).  We danced the night away until about 1:30am when hunger hit and we finished up at Benedict with pancakes!!!

It really was an excellent New Year!

Now for the part where I get a little serious.  I'm going to put it out there and say 2014 was one of my best years yet which is good because in January 2014, I named 2014 the Year of Mona.  Lol, I know but what I meant by that was that 2014 was going to be my year; the year where I really focus on me and attempt to figure out what I want and where I'm going and to make sure I'm happy as often as I can be.  Selfish, but in the best way possible.

Aaaaand a massive success it was.  I started by finally dropping that pain of a career I had deluded myself into thinking I liked and implementing a big dream of mine - teaching English and living overseas.  That alone was crazy but I've also taken up some hobbies (lolz) including dancing and my all time favourites - cooking and food adventures.  Ultimately, I wanted to focus on the things that make me happy and that for me, is now my biggest goal going forward.

So, my advice to you all - make 2015 your year.  You don't have to do something as wild as quitting your job and moving to another country but it can be as small as trying to do the things you love as often as you can.  Don't worry about what others think - you are number one and if you're happy, everything else should fall into place.

Best of wishes for 2015 and the Year of You / the Year of Mona II (haha) xx
