The struggle is real

One of my new favourite phrases is: 'the struggle is real'.  I love it.  It is sooo applicable to my everyday life in Israel.  It helps me have a laugh when things are tough or different from what I am used too back home in the safe and hospitable lands of Australia.

Times when the phrase has helped me deal with a less than ideal situation:
  • The bus driver took off with me only half in the bus;
  • Tortillas for Mexican food are ridiculously hard to find and a million shekels a packet;
  • No one understands me because of my Australian accent;
  • Sufganiyot (jam donuts for Hanukkah) in Israel do not have anywhere near enough jam in them; and
  • The kids are being absolute criminals and not listening to a single thing I am trying to teach them.
Well, today the struggle got really real in Horovitz 9 (the apartment I live in).

Yesterday we noticed water in the hallway outside our apartment.  It was odd because no one had been mopping and directly behind said leaking wall is one of our bathrooms. However we stayed calm and did nothing as these things sometimes just fix themselves, right?!

Well, this morning, our neighbour downstairs reported that her ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom (below the bathroom) was driping water.  Basically, the problem had gotten infinitely worse in a matter of 12 hours.

So, the struggle is so real right now.  We have a nice workman drilling, banging and hammering outside our apartment in an attempt to fix the plumbing issue.  In fact, I'm not even sure if we can use our bathroom at the moment.  Not to mention the poor lady downstairs who's ceiling starting leaking bathroom water #sosoreal.  However, I'm sure by tonight it will all be fixed, and if not, I can always just go and stay in the other ITF apartment upstairs #lessreal.

Anyways, here are some photos of the things I did with my kids today.  I'm attempted to say that I got a little too excited in my grade 6 class.  One of the girls actually got out her phone to take a photo of the board below because I had written so much on it.

Teaching fruit to the grade 4's.

We are discussing our dream vacations and I got way too excited about it.

Only 5 days until my Mum gets here!!

MM x
